Positive New This Week
I often make myself lists as reminders that there is still some hope in the current chaos of the world today. I thought I would share them here to offer up some positivity this week. Some of these are not actually news, but they definitely put me in a better mood.
Dr. Patrice A. Harris is president of AMA
In June of 2019, president-elect Dr. Patrice Harris will become the president of The American Medical Association (AMA). She is the first black woman to hold that position, and considering the fact that black people were not even allowed in the organization at one point in time, this triumph is all the more extraordinary.
Queer Eye is back!
Although I just started season one, I was ecstatic to find out that Season Two of Queer Eye was released on Netflix. Queer Eye, a reboot of the original show: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, is a show about five men who, in short, transform the lives of men who need a confidence boost and a lifestyle improvement. Trust me, you will fall in love with the wholesome and witty Karamo, Antoni, Tan, Jonathan, and Bobby also known as "The Fab Five".
Incredibles 2
It has been fourteen years since the release of the original Incredibles, and its record-breaking box office records are demonstrative of the roaring hype, but before you watch the long-anticipated film, I must share a few important details you may need to know. Firstly, I am not a medical professional by any means, but I have heard from multiple people who watched the film that there were several points where people who have epilepsy would probably not be safe. Several cinemas have issued warnings for audiences. Please spread awareness to those who may be prone to photosensitive epilepsy or any other light sensitivities.. I know this is not necessarily optimistic, but it is important, so I needed to share it sooner than later.
Danny DeVito at pride
Danny DeVito and the cast of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" were out at LA Pride, and if seeing Danny DeVito in a rainbow boa does not make you smile, I do not know what will. I mean, just look at how happy he is!!
Weightless by Marconi Union
Once again, I have gained valuable information from Twitter. A few days ago, i saw a tweet about a scientific study that claimed that the song "Weightless" by Marconi Union was proven to reduce anxiety by 65%. Now, I was a bit skeptical, but upon conducting a five-second Google search, I actually found an article published by Inc.com that stated that the experiment "resulted in a striking 65 percent reduction in participants' overall anxiety, and a 35 percent reduction in their usual physiological resting rates". The article advised against driving while listening to the song because it made women in the study "drowsy".
Nash Wotherspoon
Sean Wotherspoon, most known for his dope Airmax 97 Nike shoe, and of course for being one of the owners of Round Two, has an adorable son with Ashley Rowe. I am not really big on admiring other people's babies, but their son Nash is genuinely adorable, and they dress him like a little hype beast! I'm sorry, it's way too cute.
