Expressing My Love For Brockhampton the Only Way I Know How
If you have not heard of Brockhampton yet, you need to open a new tab and look them up right now. This can wait. Go! Do it!
Comprised of a whopping 15 members, Brockhampton is the greatest boyband since One Direction. I love Brockhampton, no, I ADORE Brockhampton. You would not believe how difficult it was to write an article that encapsulated my admiration and simultaneously did them justice, honestly, I don't even think this article can do them justice. They are my new favorite boy band, and yes, they are a boy band. Nada de* "self-proclaimed" or "rap-collective." When One Direction went on their "hiatus" (lol) I thought I would never get into another boy band again. I didn't have a group to obsess over, so I turned to older bands, but it wasn't the same. There wasn't this lingering excitement, this passion, and anticipation for new music or a tour date. That's when I found Brockhampton, the "South Side One Direction." I had listened to Kevin Abstract as an emo Freshman, but it wasn't until May of 2017 that I truly got into Brockhampton. It was and still is life-changing. They keep cranking out new music consistently from the factory. THREE ALBUMS IN ONE YEAR!! The Saturation universe is insane and I still don't know how exactly everything connects, but I love reading all the theories. Brockhampton is more than just a boyband, it is a group of people genuinely changing the world. They prove what the internet has the power of doing and what the bed room producer can accomplish. They are not just a bunch of white dudes telling me to love myself. They are diverse and honest, and they write lyrics that are brilliantly crafted. I just love them. I do.
Initially, I was going to make a Saturation trilogy song break-down similar to that of Melodrama, but every time I sat down to articulate my feelings, I couldn't find anything that genuinely conveyed my emotions besides a classic keyboard smash. I thought of making a video, but I didn't want my love to be taken satirically. I just couldn't put how much I adore Brockhampton into words, so I decided to not use any at all. I sat down for a few hours and created a collage for each song off the album that started it all for me: SATURATION. Please enjoy!!
