The Bling Ring

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to literally live in the shoes of a Beverly Hills A-lister? Look no further, “The Bling Ring” Follow the group of teens that robbed all your favorite celebrities from the early 2000s. Based on the real-life "Bling Ring," this movie takes you along on a tumultuous, drug-infused, jaw-dropping ride through a string of robberies committed by some teens in California.

Honestly, It is not rocket science. With the help of the internet this "rag-tag" group of West Coast teens were able to know exactly when their favorite celebs would be away from their estates, as well as the addresses of those celebrities they targeted. They were able to successfully rob Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Audrina Patridge, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, and Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox, until they were finally hunted down and caught via Facebook. Ironically, their demise sprang from the same root as their sheer dumb luck.

Directed by none other than the queen of the silver screen herself, Sofia Coppola, “The Bling Ring” is nothing short of spectacular. This (dramatization of the actual events) film takes you back in time allows you to live vicariously through the shockingly real, wild, and dangerous robberies, terribly 2000’s clothing, and gnarly valley accents that for a split second almost make you appreciate not growing up in California… only a split second. I mean, come on, haven’t you ever dreamed of trying on the clothing of your favorite famous person? What if you could “borrow” their wardrobe? Their car? Would you take the chance?

If for whatever reason you still have any doubt that this movie is a MUST SEE please consider the following facts: Paris Hilton’s actual house was used in the film, yes, her REAL house, club room and all, Emma Watson ditches her poised British accent for a mellowed out yet whiny “valley” girl pitch, and above all, it’s 2009! That was a pivotal year for fashion. Subtly emerging from the dust and grime of the early 2000’s, yet not being able to taste the full fruition of 2010. Do you throw away your Von Dutch hat yet? The answer for Paris Hilton was.. no. Aside from all the glitz, the most notable aspect of the film is its soundtrack. The songs will definitely evoke a serious sense of nostalgia. Will it be strong enough to make you want to pause the movie and grab your juicy track suit? Hmm that depends on wether or not you still own one.
