Music You Needed to Know, Like, Yesterday
This music is so good you're going to wish you had heard it sooner. Trust me.
The Heirs
If there was a room somewhere in the universe, in which everything was covered in gentle flower petals, red glitter and all that shimmers alongside some disco balls hanging from the ceiling and a couple instruments laying around, you would have probably found my dream world in which The Heirs were most definitely forged in. The Los Angeles based pop band is comprised of vocalists (and siblings) Brandon and Savannah Hudson, Alex Flagstad on guitar, Eian McNeely on bass and keyboard, and drummer Brennan Benko.
With only a year under their belt as a band, they are no strangers t
o the music business. Siblings Brandon and Savannah have been making music together their
whole lives, and found their own success as a duo on America’s Got Talent in 2013. Their eclectic music is nothing short of feel-good pop. Each and every one of their songs will get you moving and is unlike anything out there right now. Their 2015 EP ‘Ecliptic’ and most current single 'What You Want' has clear 80s influences and a distinct sound that make you want to dance for eternity. With a focus on what it’s like to be young and to be in love there is something so relatable and familiar about The Heirs which I love about them. The band plans to release another EP during the summer which I’m sure will be apart of my summer soundtrack.

The Aces
I don’t think I have ever been as happy to discover a band as I was when I discovered The Aces. I suppose the first thing to mention would be the fact they are an all girl band! Who play their own instruments! A real band! I cannot deny
that girl groups like Little Mix, Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child are the first to get me on my feet and feeling empowered as hell. However, seeing four gorgeous young girls rocking out on their own instruments has quite the effect on me. The Aces are made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Cristal Ramirez, lead guitar and backup vocalist Katie Henderson, bassist McKenna Petty and drummer Alisa Ramirez. These girls with their roots in Utah, are bound to take over the world. Their debut single ‘Stuck’ has a surreal, dreamy vibe to it that is guaranteed to take you back to a party in the mid-70s. That is their only song, but that was all it took to get me hooked on The Aces. Make sure to look out for their new music this year because there is no stopping the rise to stardom this bunch is on.

Heartstreets
Gabrielle Godon and Emma Beko are living out their childhood dreams. The pair met in Montreal when they were 9 years old, and discovered a mutual love for hip-hop and R&B, and created the beautiful baby that is Heartstreets. The combination of Godon’s soulful voice and Beko’s impressive rapping, gives a unique twist to the hip-hop you’ve gotten used to. When first listening to one of their songs, you are drawn in by Godon’s enchanting vocals or Beko’s bars, and then quickly surprised by the other as soon as they enter the song. Their songs ‘Cruising With You’ and ‘Crawling South’ from their EP You & I dominated my summer last year and with new music in the works I have no doubt they will do it again.

LANY
While this Los Angeles based trio have undeniably ‘risen’ already, with roughly 3 and a half million monthly listens on Spotify, and a world tour under their belt. LANY have not quite finished yet. With a name incorporating Los Angeles and New York, their music has definitely travelled coast to coast but they are on the way towards world domination. Over the past 2 years they have released three EP’s jam packed with a variety of dreamy, soul-ful tracks that make you want to break out in dance or break out in tears. And I can guarantee it to you myself, they put on one hell of a concert. Hands down one of the best I have ever been to. Their new single ‘Good Girls’ came out recently and they have announced-after years of longing I am finally getting my wish:
a full length album. On June 30th LANY are going to releasing their debut self-titled album. I can bet now, it will be 16 tracks worth of pure magic. If this is the first time you hear of them, it definitely won’t be your last. Thank me later.

Dua Lipa
In my so called ‘dream world’ that I’ve mentioned throughout this, I forgot to mention that Dua Lipa’s beautiful angelic form is singing to me at all times. If you haven’t heard of Dua, I can’t judge you for it yet, but soon you’ll have to be living under a rock to not have heard of this pop princess. In a matter of months, Dua Lipa has gone from a cute 6 million listeners on Spotify to a whopping 23, and now holds the place as 21st most listened to artist on the streaming service! In 2015, Dua began releasing her first couple songs ‘New Love’, ‘Be The One’ and, ‘Hotter Than Hell’. Her gritty yet soulful voice, and infectious so called ‘dark pop’ beats, will invoke all kinds of feeling in you and sweep you off your feet. After touring the United States with Troye Sivan, her popularity here has soared, and now she is touring on her own. After months of anticipation, and dates being pushed further and further away, Dua’s debut album is now guaranteed to come to us soon. The self titled debut album will be out to the world on June 2nd 2017, prepare your ears my friends.
